Enlisted August 1940, joined ‘D’ Coy 15 Platoon with CO Meiklejohn however was moved in Singapore, to newly formed 16 Platoon with CO Sgt Ron Arbery who was transferred from 13 Platoon.
Harrison was with 16 platoon being led out from the west coast on the night of 9 Feb 1942 by Sgt Arbery – they had been overrun by the invading Japanese forces. Contact was lost with Harrison. Later they heard he had escaped to Australia.
He disembarked Fremantle on 5 March 1942 and was Taken on Strength, General Details Camp Claremont ex-Batavia, the same day.
