Made in Changi by WX8384 Private Robert G Henderson of 2/4 MGB. Made from back of cigarette packets. Henderson enlisted from Geraldton.

Kobe, Japan. c. Aug 1945. Wakinohama POW camp after liberation. Allied flags are flying, including United States flag closest to view. US soldiers who liberated the camp are left and right, a sandbagged entrance is just outside building. Many Australians were held here, including members of 2/4th MGB. (Donor J. Lane)

Kobe, Japan. Aug 1945. Australian and other POWs retrieve drums of supplies dropped by parachute from USAAF B29 bomber aircraft into Wakinohama POW camp. Two drums are being rolled away, several men are looking skywards as presumably more drums are being dropped. Behind the drum (centre) is John Ramsbottom, 2/4thMGB. (Donor J. Lane)

AWM: Hand made grave cross made of poured concrete, with ‘AIF’ cast on lower limb of cross. ‘L. CPL. HILL J. 2/4 M.G. BN 11. 3. 43’ is painted (now very faint) around an impressed brass strip bearing regimental number ‘WX8756’.
