Anketell family – young Mick Anketell standing centre back.
Scottish born Campbell, Randolf Stuart WX9556 remained Singapore throughout war. RTA & died Victoria August 1962.
Eastern Goldfields Pipe Band – Scottish born MacMaster standing far Left. Died Konyu II (Hellfire Pass Cutting) beri beri July 1943 aged 37 years. A Goldfields boy.
Bill Short (believed 2nd from Left) Never left Changi throughout war received shrapnel wounds Feb 1942. Suffered disability & pain throughout his life,
Lady Mountbatten was highly regarded by POWs. In the early days after Japan’s surrender, she would arrive at POW Camps with her driver.

SA. 11 October 1941. A train carrying members and vehicles of the 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion climbs the hills north of Adelaide en route from Woodside camp to Alice Springs. The vehicles are one ton and 30 cwt Ford trucks, of which each Vickers gun crew had its own. (Donor to AWM J. Lane, formerly 2/4th)
