Shackleton boy Norm Venemore WX9292 lost his life when his POW Japanese transport ship was attacked by US submarine in South China Sea 12 Sept 1944. Norm was 28 years old.

Fremantle boy WX7429 Freddie YENSCH worked on Burma end of Railway. Travelling by train from Nikhe Camp south to Tamarkan Camp, Thailand Fred drifted into a sleep and was found to have died on 8 March 1944. He was 29 years old.
