Warrington enlisted AIF 18 Dec 1940 aged 39 years, later joining 2/4th MGB’s ‘D’ Company No. 15 Platoon under Commanding Officer Lt. Meiklejohn as a cook.

Soldier was admitted to 2/9th Field Ambulance on 1/2/1942 with a knee injury. Discharged to unit on 6/2/1942.
Initially Warrington left Singapore to work on Burma-Thai Railway with ‘D’ Force Thailand T Battalion No. 4 Section.

He split off from the main Party to WO John Dooley Party

John was recovered from Ubon Camp, Thailand at the end of the war having been send there early 1945.
He was admitted to Hospital Camp 30 June to 8 Aug 1945  suffering with jaundice and unilateral facial paralysis  – (cause unknown).
It has been suggested Jack served in WW1.  Unfortunately we are not able to confirm or deny this,

 

 

 

Born Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire to parents John Collis Warrington and Rose Hannah Redfern.  He was one of 12 children.
He arrived Albany from London 4 Jan 1924 on SS Euripedes aged 22 years.  No other family members came to Australia.  His father died England 1944 and his mother died in 1959.
Below:  Lillian Gunner was also on Euripides with Jack Warrington.  Whether they met on ship for the first time is not known.

 

 

Known as Jack, he married Lillian Elizabeth Gunner – date is unknown however the couple had a daughter in 1928 at Narrogin whom they named Elsie Beryl Warrington.  Jack worked for WA Government Railways.

Lillian died 28 Sep 1966 at Maylands aged 72 years.  She was buried at Karrakatta Cemetery.
Jack died NSW 30 Nov 1982 aged 81 years and is buried at Woronora Cemetery.
