General Description

Joe Gregory enlisted AIF 23 July 1940 and later joined 2/4th MGB’s ‘B’ Company 9 Platoon, Batman/runner to Lt Don Lee.
As a POW in Singapore he left by train with ‘D’ Force S Battalion to work on the Burma-Thai Railway to work in the Hellfire Pass area.    Please read about this work Force
He was recovered from Thailand at the end of the war,

 

Gregory’s parents Florence Edith Maud Shillabeer Rundle m. 1899 Hindmarsh, South Australia to  Gilbert Gregory. Henry was one of six sons and four daughters.  Florence Gregory died in 1916 in SA and Gilbert died in 1943 SA.

 

 

 

Joe had become bankrupt before moving to WA.

1946 Henry Gregory married in either 1941 or 1946 to Selina May Geary.
He died 26 March 1959 at Carlisle where they were living. He was buried at Karrakatta Cemetery.  It is not known if there were any children from this marriage.
Selina Gregory appears not to have remarried and died 27 November 1997 in Morley.
