General Description

Keirle was sent to work on Burma-Thai Railway with ‘H’ Force.
Please read further about this Force.
Keirle was one of the lucky few – he contracted cholera 20 June 1943 whilst at Malayan Hamlet Camp and survived.  He was evacuated by barge 11 Sept 1943 to Kanu I River Camp prior to returning to Kanchanaburi and then onto Singapore.
In Singapore Keirle was accommodated at Sime Road Road Camp – sent on a work party X3 in 1945 before returning to Changi which was by this time extremely overcrowded.  Please read about X 3 Party.
