Arthur’s father Oswald Roy Spouse was born about 1896 Malmsbury, Victoria.  He married Amy Florence Snow in 1916 Perth.  The couple had three children, Jeanette  born 1917, Stanley Ernst born 1919 Kalgoorlie and Arthur born 1920 Doodlakine.

Oswald Spouse worked as a grocer in various locations.  1916 – Albany, until 1920 Doodlakine, 1931 Wubin.

Prior to marrying, Oswald Spouse enlisted WW1 WA about 14 August 1915.  However a short time after, according to his records, he requested to be discharged 16 Sept 1915.  He was ordered to pay One Pound and payment for all small kit issued.

When his mother died, Arthur was barely 12 months old, Jennie about 4 years and Stanley two years.    Their father Oswald would not have been in a position to look after 3 very young children and work. It is probable the children were either looked after by relatives/friends or fostered.

Arthur’s brother Stanley Ernest enlisted WW2 at Mt Isa, Queensland his service number SX28297.  Stan returned home after the war,

Oswald Spouse remarried in 1935 to Lillian Monck.  They had four sons.  Oswald died in 1960.
