General Description
Reg was a Kingsley Fairbridge Farm Schoolboy. He arrived in Australia with Party No. 25 on SS ‘Ballarat’ on 23/11/1931 aged 11 years. He was housed in ‘Kitchener”. He was one of 21 Fairbridge boys to join 2/4th, 10 returned home.
In 1936 Reg was working at Brick House Station, Carnarvon.
In 1948 he married in Victoria to Lorna Francis Barry.
Lorna died 10 June 1997. Reg died 20 June 2006 aged 85 years. Both are buried Portarlington Cemetery, Portarlington, Greater Geelong, Victoria, Australia
Reg married and lived in Victoria. In his later years he visited Perth regularly to catch up with his Fairbridge and 2/4th mates.
Reg was a gentle man, always happy and his company was much sought after!
It is known that Reg made enquiries through Fairbridge in later years to seek out his family. Unfortunately it is not known whether this search produced any results.
In 1948 Reg married Lorna Francis Barry in Victoria. They remained living in the Geelong area and had two children Viviene and Carl.
Lorna died 10 June 1997 and Reg 25 June 2006 They are buried Portarlington Cemetery, Geelong, Victoria.
Reg was recovered from Niihama, Japan at the end of the war.
There were about 41 men from 2/4th located at this Camp including brothers Len and Charlie Armstrong and three Fairbridge boys Reg Pascall, Cowboy Matthews and Albert John King who after returning to WA at war’s end, chose to re-enlist and was KIA November 1950 in Korea 42 days later.
Reg Pascall would regularly visit Western Australia and his army mates from Tasmania where he and his family resided. He always had a wonderful smile and a happy disposition, courteous and charming!
