When Bob enlisted 16 August 1940, he was working at Menzies. He joined 2/4th MGB’s ‘C’ Company 10 Platoon with Frank Halbart and Keith Sawyer from Menzies.
Robert’s parents Edwin Joseph Carlile and Ellen Kathleen Carey married in Perth in 1910 and he was born Meekathara 1913.
Bob was recorded living Kalgoorlie and working as a miner in Electoral Roll for 1937.
Robert married about 1941 to Edith Brenda Chandler.
