General Description

 

Adams was initially enlisted with 28th Militia (W29881) prior to  enlisting AIF Dec 1940.  He later joined 2/4th’s ‘C’ Company, No.10 Platoon in the role of his regular trade as a Butcher.
Below:  Taken in Sydney prior to departing on ‘Aquitania’ to sail to Fremantle, then Singapore.  Arthur on Left, Mate’s name is sadly unknown.
He was Killed In Action 11 Feb 1942  at Ulu Pandan, Singapore aged 24 years.

ADAMS Arthur memoriam

 

In 1966 Elsie Adams remarried Albert Sidney Austin (Sid) Webb WX17804 a former 2/4th POW, and Fremantle boy.

 

Victor Adams remarried about 1927 to Catherine H. E. Haring following the death of his first wife Alice Rebecca aged 40 years in 1926 and the mother of Arthur who would have been aged about 9 years. Arthur was the second youngest of 6 children.
The second marriage produced another four children including Bernice.

 

Catherine was a disciplined mother to her step children and her own. Arthur left home following the death of his father.
Victor Adams who was employed as a cooper at Swan Breweries died in 1936 aged 53 years.
