Niihama had 245 Australian POWs of which three died. Ranking man was Lt. Peter Selwyn Withycombe (NX70315) from 2/15th Field Regiment, 8th Division raised in NSW. Photograph below:
Dick Hindle from 2/4th died in a rock fall.
