General Description

Breeze enlisted AIF April 1941was sent as one of 146 2/4th reinforcements from Northam to Fremantle to board ‘Aquitania’ at Gage Roads, Fremantle on 15th Jan 1942. Their ship sailed the next day on 16th Jan 1942.  Half the men joined other Platoons and the other half formed ‘E’ Coy SRB.
 He joined 2/4th’s ‘C’ Coy 10 Platoon as a reinforcement, becoming Lance Corporal to CO Lt Wilson.
In 1943 Breeze was sent to work on the Burma-Thai Railway with ‘D’ Force Thailand S Battalion working around the Hellfire Pass Region.  Please read about D Force S Battalion
Gordon was evacuated sick from Kanu I River Camp to Chungkai Hospital Camp.  Then to Nacompaton Camp from where he was recovered at the end of the war.

Gordon was born 1910 Great Yarmouth England to Henry George Breeze and Edith Sarah Guyton at Great Yarmouth, England who had married in 1891 England.  Gordon’s mother Edith died in 1919 and his father in 1940 England.
As a 16 year old Gordon sailed on the ‘Orama’ from England in November 1926 for Fremantle.  He had previously been employed at a ‘warehouse boy’ in Yarmouth.  A very brave decision!
Gordon married 1931 Northam to Annie Celia Kimberley.
Annie was born 1911 at Fremantle to Joseph and Mary Kimberley.
Her  mother Mary was a widow with five sons having married at Albany 1900  to John Pitcher before marrying Joseph Kimberley in 1908.  Annie had one older brother Joseph Edgar and two younger brothers George Franklin and Donald Bruce.  Her father died 1944 at Midland Junction and Annie’s mother died in 1953 at Northam.
In 1937 Electoral Roll Gordon and Annie were residing Nugadon, Dalwalinu and Gordon was working as a railway repairer.
In 1943 Gordon is residing at Lomos, near Corrigin.  He is working with WAGR as a repairer.
In the 1949 Electoral Roll Gordon and Annie were farming at Wooroloo.
In 1977 Electoral Roll Gordon and Annie were residing Breeze Road, Gidgegannup,  Gordon working as a labourer.
Gordon (Billy) Breeze died 18 January 1999 at Mandurah, WA aged 88 years was buried at Lakes Lawn Cemetery, Mandurah.    Annie Breeze died 2003  at Mandurah.
