Rogie enlisted AIF 23 Oct 1940 later joining 2/4th MGB’s ‘D’ Company Headquarters, later in Singapore transferred to 15 Platoon.
He was shell shocked at Buona Vista having been buried by a shell on 15/2/1942 but remained on duty.
Rogie remained at Singapore during the war and was recovered from Changi Gaol Camp.  He was hospitalised with dysentery several times during 42-43.

 

 

 

His mother Elizabeth (Lizzie) passed away on 13 July 1904 in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, at the age of 27.
Andy Rogie and his older brother John ‘Jack’  Edward Rogie arrived Fremantle 17 May 1910 on board ‘Osterley’.
His father John took up farming at Tutanning Springs, 35 km from Pingelly, (this area today includes the well-known Tutanning Nature Reserve with the Percy Marshall Research Centre) naming his property ‘Scotston’.  He remarried in 1915 to Isabella McDonald from Pingelly.  Isabella died 7 Jan 1926 in Perth.
John Rogie remarried Gladys Emily Haynes 1928.
Andy’s father John passed away on 5 December 1946 in Western Australia at the age of 71.
Andrew Rogie married 1926 to Muriel Doris West in Perth, they had three children Keith Andrew Gilbert, Cyril Chester and daughter Gwendoline Lizzette. Keith died in 1948 aged 21 years in NSW he had also enlisted WX23290 and was a regular soldier.
Andy & Muriel were living on their farm at Noongar 1927 which they named ‘Grimlet Forest Farm’.
Rogie was recording living Yilgarn, farmer 1935.  He was living Kalgoorlie in 1931 Electoral Roll.
‘Noongar was a small town halfway between Burracoppin and Southern Cross on the Great Eastern Highway in the Wheatbelt.
Noongar originated in 1894 as Siding No. 10 on the Yilgarn Railway from Northam to Southern Cross. A stationmaster’s house was constructed in 1896, but was burnt to the ground in 1898. The stationmaster was withdrawn in 1907. The area was largely developed for agricultural purposes by 1924, when the need for a townsite became apparent. Lots were surveyed early in 1925 and the townsite was gazetted later the same year.’
Andy’s brother John Edward Rogie known as ‘Jack’ enlisted 20 May 1940 joining 2/16th Battalion. 7th Division WX2993. He was then 39 years and 10 months old (born 1900 Scotland), single and had been residing with his father at 97 Canning Highway, Cannington working as a blacksmith’s striker with his father John Rogie who was a blacksmith.  Jack married 25 April 1942 to Ena Florence Needs and she was living 57 Canning Highway.  (His first marriage was 1927 Elsie Beswick from Pingelly).
Jack was first sent to Palestine serving Middle East from 25 Oct 1940 to 22 March 1942.  Then New Guinea from 6 Aug 1942 to 16 January 1943.   He was discharged 8 Aug 1945.
In 1972 Andrew Rogie was residing Rockingham.
Andrew Rogie died 1981 in W.A. aged 79 years. He had been residing 1 Stephen Street, Orange Grove.    Muriel (born Boulder WA) died 8 April 1964 at the age of 60, and was buried  Nedlands.
