General Description

Review WX10433 Stuart Leckie‘s military records held at NAA.

 

Below:  Leckie’s name is recorded on this Thai POWS Camp – unfortunately we do not know the name of the camp.

 

 

 

Leckie was on POW Transport ship Tamahoko Maru with Java Party 20 when the ship was torpedoed by US submarines.  He was one of the fortunate who survived.  He was picked up and taken onto Japan where he was taken to Fukuoka 14B to work.
Leckie was recovered from Japan at the end of the war.

Stuart’s brother John Leckie also of 2/3rd was also on board transport ship Tamohoko Maru, but tragically John perished.
