Platt was recovered from Ohama, Japan when the war ended.  He sailed on HMS ‘Speaker’ from Manila to
Sydney.

Below:  2/3rd’s George Lilford sends message to his family and mentioned Frosty Rainbird and Alf Platt.  Both Rainbird and Lilford lost their lives.

 

 

 

 

Alf Platt was farming at Narrikup when he enlisted 15 Jan 1941.  His wife Lilian Ada  Platt (nee Jolly) moved from Narrikup to Maylands while Platt was overseas.  They had married Jan 1929 at Narrikup.
His parents Walter Charles and Rose Ellen Lipscombe married Dec 1904. They had a family of 5 children.  Alf was the second child of two sons and three daughters.
His father Walter Charles Platt died April 1922 Eton, Buckinghamshire, England.  His mother died 1932.
Platt died 19 Dec 1979 aged 70 years and was buried Allambie Park Cemetery, Albany.  Lillian died 1 Sept 1994 and was also buried Allambie Park Cemetery.

 

 

 

 

 

Platt played in local cricket team.
