Review WX4000 Arthur Withnell‘s military records held at NAA.

 

Kinsaiyok POW Camp Cemetery, Thailand,
Withnell died of cholera on 19 Jul 1943 the same day as fellow 2/3 soldier Rainbird.  He was one of a large work force shipped from Java via Singapore to Thailand with commanding officer Weary Dunlop to work on the Burma-Thai Railway.  Other 2/3rd to die of cholera at  Kinsayok include Rainbird, Todd, Jenkins and Holland.
Watson, Robinson and Dawe died of dysentery at Kinsayok about the same time.

Horace Willmott Withnell m 19 May, 1908 Irishtown to Annie Matilda Morgan.  They had a large family of about 5 surviving girls and two sons – Arthur and Keith.
