General Description

Review WX4105 Edward Thomas Campbell Williams‘ military records held at NAA.
He disembarked ‘Orcadia’ at Java and taken POW of Japan 8 March 1942.  Initially reported missing in Action until July 1943.
Eddie was recovered from Thailand at the end of the war.  He was one of a large work force sent from Java via Singapore to work on the Burma-Rail in Thailand. Please read further about Dunlop Force Java Party No. 6
You can follow the main route of camps Eddie’s work parties  would have worked at.  However as there are no records, we cannot be specific.
Eddie was recovered from Siam at the end of the war.

 

 

 

Eddie Williams a farmer from Nokanning was  born Victoria in 1910 26 Jul 1910 at Snake Valley, Carngham, Victoria enlisted at Northam and recorded his NOK his brother John Edgar Williams, Nokaning. Eddie and John were the only sons, with five sisters.
Eddie’s parents Edward ‘Ned’ Williams m. 1911 Ballarat, Victoria  to Annie Louisa Campbell.  It is not known when the Williams family moved to Merredin.  The Williams had a family of about 7 children.
Eddie’s father Ned Williams died Merredin 1935. His mother died in 3 Jul 1940 in Perth aged 63 years.
Returning from war Eddie Williams m. 7 April 1951 at Mosman Park to Kathleen Roddy.  They had a family of two sons.

Eddie died about 1983 aged 72 years at Merredin.  Kathleen died 2015 in Perth.
