Leckie was with Java Party 20 sent to Japan from Java to work. Please read further.
Leckie lost his life when his transport ship Tamahoko was torpedoed by US Submarines and sank 24 June 1944 off the coast of Japan near to Nagasaki. Please read about the sinking
John Leckie’s brother Stuart Leckie of 2/3rd was also on board Tamahoko, but miraculously survived to be taken to Japan where he worked until recovered at the end of the war.
