Hambley was originally selected with ‘A’ Force, Green Force No. 3 
Battalion to work on Burma end of Railway. Green Force first arrived at Victoria Point, Burma where the men were split into 2 work parties, one at the wharf and the other at the aerodrome to repair and prepare for Japanese Forces.
