General Description
Sam Ninyette was one of eight Indigenous Western Australians to join the 2/4th.
Ninyette was AWOL at Fremantle when “Aquitania” sailed for Singapore. He was one of 88 men from 2/4th who sailed to Java at end of January 1942 and became part of ‘Blackforce’ and taken POW of Japanese at Java. A much larger number of men left ‘Aquitania’ – they managed to be back on board prior to ship sailing at midday.

Ninyette left Bicycle Camp Java with Java Party No. 4 for Singapore where they stayed for 2 days before leaving for Burma-Thai Railway with ‘A’ Force Burma, Java Party No. 4, Williams Force. Please read further.
He was recovered from Konkoita Camp Thailand when the war ended.

Samuel Ninyette was born in Beverley to John and Rosie Ninyette. Samuel married Emmeline Francis Jones at Wagin 17th July 1941. They had a family of seven children.
In later years Samuel and Emmeline resided at Mundijong. In 1977 Electoral Roll they were at Mundijong and Samuel was working as a labourer.
Emmeline was born at Woodanilling in 1919. She died at Mundijong 1 April 1984 and was buried Serpentine.
He died 17th February 1981 at RPH and was buried at Serpentine.
