Towards end of 1943 when the rail was completed, the Japanese began to bring all the POWs in Burma south to Thailand to one of the larger camps.  George was possibly evacuated sick because when he reached Tamarkan Hospital Camp, Thailand he died of illness in Mar 1944 aged 25 years.
Funeral service conducted on 1.3.1944 by Padre J. W. K. Mathieson.
