The Oag family arrived in WA from Scotland about 1913.

In 1915 Alex’s father Alex (Snr) drowned aged 40 years  whilst attempting to save his son Alex 11 years and another younger boy at the Canning River Bridge area.  The boys had taken a small boat out and when it began to fill with water, they called for Alex (Snr) to help them.
An inquest found Alex (Snr) who was a good swimmer, it appears may have died from a heart condition.
What had started out as a happy family day at the river became an awful tragedy for Mrs Oag and her five children, especially for 11 year old Alex who with a younger boy had taken out a small dinghy onto the river.  When found it was leaking in water and sinking fast Alex (Snr) swam out to the boys.  They were eventually saved by two other young teenagers as Alex (Snr) disappeared beneath the water.

Alex’s mother Agnes remarried about 1917 (to Fearns)  after Alexander (Snr) drowned in 1915.
In 1924 13 year old son George died.
Agnes died in 1946.

Another son George, died in 1924 aged 13 years.

Alec married about 1932 in Perth to Bessie ‘Vera’ Phillips.
