Bunbury born Doug Parked enlisted AIF Oct 1940 and later joined 2/4th MGB’s ‘B’ Coy 9 Platoon.

At the end of the war Parker was recovered from Tamuang Camp, Thailand – sent to Bangkok and flown to Singapore, then sailed to Fremantle on HMT Highland Brigade.

Doug was youngest born of nine children to parents Richard Parker and Jessie Glen who married 1901 who resided Bunbury. Several children died in their early years.
Doug was the only son to serve overseas.
His father died 1931 in Bunbury and his mother Jessie died 1945 while was POW in Thailand.
In 1947 Doug married Angelina ‘Lina’ Managlio in Perth. They had two children.
Doug died young in 1955 aged 41 years at Floreat.
