General Description
Wilson enlisted AIF 13 Aug 1940 and later joined 2/4th MGB.
Ron was with A Coy No. 4 Platoon.
Ray Wilson with Own (Romeo) Morris.
Ray left Singapore as a POW with ‘A’ Force Burma, Green Force No. 3 Battalion to work on the Burma end of the Railway. Please read about ‘A’ Force Burma Green Force
Without records we cannot be certain which POW Camps Ray worked at – so we record all those this work force worked arriving first at Victoria Point in lower south west Burma to repair and enlarge the airfield left by the British.
At the end of 1943 when the Railway was completed, the Japanese began to bring all the POWs in Burma and throughout Thailand to one of 6 or so large camps or hospitals. Ray was taken to Tamarkan Hospital Camp on 29 Feb 1944. When recovered he was sent to either Tamuang Camp and or Kanchanburi. He was recovered from Thailand at the end of the war.
