General Description
Ohrt enlisted AIF 30 Oct 1940. He later joined 2/4th MGB’s ‘A’ Company. He was promoted to Sergeant 29 Jan 1942.

Ohrt left with the first Australian work party from Singapore, sailing to south west Burma with ‘A’ Force Burma, Green Force No. 3 Battalion – they would several months repairing and improving airfields before heading to the Burma end of the Railway. Green Force starting working on the Burma-Thai Railway 1 Oct 1941 and would spend the next 12 months doing so.

He was recovered from Thailand at the end of the war.
Before enlisting Gordon had a strong interest in entertainment.
Gordon Ohrt married in Katanning 1946 to Helen (Patricia) Warren.

They lived at Badgeup in the Katanning district for several years.
Gordon died Claremont 24 Feb 2007 aged 87 years. Patricia died at Leederville 30 May 2018 aged 93 years.
